TRAINING
As an advanced aviation training centre, Mangalore Airport is the base for Inbound Aviation and Moorabbin Air Services The integrated training facilities include a purpose-built learning centre with classrooms, briefing rooms, a dispatch centre and offices as well as:

an examination centre for CASA theory exams (run by Assessment Services P/L)

fiber-optic LAN to network the students, learning centre and administration.

provisions for advanced flight simulators

four-star accommodation for students

recreation amenities including a tennis court.
AVIATION
Mangalore Airport has:

international-standard airport lighting (pilot-activated using PAL)

two asphalt runways: northeast-southwest (05/23) 2027 metres in length, and the north-south (18/36) 1461 metres in length

fueling (Jet A1 and AVGAS)

ABOUT
Mangalore Airport is located at 36 - 53 -18S - 145 -11- 03E near the township of Avenel and close to several wineries and lucrative horse studs in the Goulburn Valley Region.

Mangalore Airport was established in 1945 for training Royal Australian Air Force pilots. In 1947 the Department of Civil Aviation took it over and it became a civilian airfield and until 1970 was the alternate for Essendon Airport.
​
Mangalore Airport was well known for the Easter Airshows until the late 1980’s.
Mangalore Airport became privately owned in the late 1990’s.
​
From November 2006 to June 2017 Mangalore Airport was home to Moorabbin Flight Training Academy (MFTA) who established a campus for training Chinese students for China Southern Airlines.

From November 2007 to April 2009 the Airport was home to the Australian Airline Pilot Academy (AAPA) owned by Regional Express Airlines. AAPA now operates out of Wagga Airport in New South Wales.

From October 2017 to January 2023 the Airport was home to Moorabbin Aviation Services who established a campus for pilot training of international students. One of their major clients being China Southern Airlines.
​
From February 2023 Inbound Aviation has established a campus at the Airport were they undertake pilot training of Australian students. Inbound Aviation continues to grow and is quickly becoming one of Australia’s finest and professional Pilot Academy's.
